MY furnace died on a very cold day. Called around to several companies and it was Bob Mims who was able to come out within 3 hours to troubleshoot the problem. I will give them a 100 for service expediency. The technician George M was very pleasant, worked thru the issue, and came up with a solution: replace the control board and think about replacing the furnace because it is 25 years old (mind you I have never had a problem with it, other than a flame sensor being replaced). I had no choice but to do the repair. Gone are the days when a service call visit would be rolled into a repair. When all was said and done, I was charged $1205 plus $136.85 plus tax. It had to be! We needed a working furnace! I wasn't happy about the way the furnace was throwing off heat. I called a mfg service tech and explained the issue; the installed part needed an adjustment. I phoned Mims the next morning and customer service was very nice; they would contact the tech and have him return. He did and in less than 15 minutes the issue was resolved. While I will give Bob Mims a 100 on customer satisfaction/service, I cannot do the same about the charge. In this day and age of computer technology, one can easily find prices. Well it seems the control board and igniter that were replaced cost on average $250, the nearly $1100 difference is labor/service call. Granted bigger companies have higher overhead costs, I just think 4x+ above the parts cost is steep. I did call around to ask what others might charge and not one had a price over $1000. In summary, Bob Mims is a very attentive and professional company, their office staff is lovely, the tech was courteous but the prices in my opinion are very high. Some times it is a trade off but excessivie is overreach.
*I sent my review to the company before posting. They reached out to discuss my concern, explaining about higher overhead costs. They offered a $200 refund which I refused. I've chalked it up to an emergency call. I still think their price was high.

The Bob Mims team, a prominent institution at the top of their profession for so many families over many decades, is composed of extraordinarily capable and compassionate human beings undeterred by demanding situations. During the half-century as their client we came to realize how Bob Mims adopted our home into a continually devoted and unsurpassed care. This is lately exemplified by how they immediately replaced our furnace and heating system which finally died moments before the paralyzing snow storm that began on the afternoon of January 25, 2026. During this event we have once again been astonished as Glenn McCormack avidly and with deepest kindness restored us to a warm home by January 26. The extent of their dedication is always beyond what we could reasonably hope for, much less expect.

My furnace stopped working on Sunday evening (during the snow storm). I called Bob Mimms for emergency service and within 30 minutes, George M. was at my house, assessed the problem (it was 13 YO and beyond repair). He reviewed and explained the options with me, and arranged for a new furnace to be installed the next day. And, he got my furnace working so that it got me through the cold night.
George is always punctual, pleasant and informative. We appreciate the service he provides
